Oregon census results 2010: bifurcation

Eight Oregon counties experienced a drop in population,  twenty counties grew roughly ten percent or less during the decade(essentially minimal growth), and seven counties grew thirteen percent or more during the decade(significant growth).

The counties that shrank were in rural areas, and the counties that grew significantly were scattered around the state.

The state’s increase in population due to net migration was 260,495 versus natural increase of 162,301.  Positive net migration probably indicates that job prospects in the state were perceived to be positive relative to other states.
