Education levels in Oregon

According to data gathered by the US government(1), the educational attainment levels of Oregon residents as of 2007 were as follows:
-88.0% had earned a high school diploma
-28.3% had completed a bachelor’s degree or higher
-10.3% had completed an advanced degree

Each of these figures were higher than the averages reported for the USA as a whole:
-84.5% had earned a high school diploma
-27.5% had completed a bachelor’s degree or higher
-10.1% had completed an advanced degree

Oregon’s rank among the states for each level of attainment were:
-21st  for high school diploma
-19th for bachelor’s degrees
-16th for advanced degrees

More recently, a report that appeared in the Oregonian newspaper in Portland in 2009 revealed that the rate of dropouts from Oregon high schools was the lowest in 20 years in 2008, and the graduation rate was 84% for the same year.(2)

While there is certainly room for improvement, the data indicate that the state of Oregon has a workforce that is competitive on a national level.
