“Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada, meeting in Japan with Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili on Dec. 21, said Japan wants to strengthen ties with Iran and wants to increase cooperation between the two countries, Mehr News Agency reported. Okada also said Iran should do more to stabilize Southwest Asia, and should work with Japan to help in reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan. Okada reportedly also invited Jalili to visit nuclear plants in Japan.”
It appears that Japanese talk about taking a more independent foreign policy stance might be more than just words.
